Handmade Innovation with a Canon D60

Written by Nate Riggs | February 04, 2011

My dude, Nate J. Marshall, is an innovator, among a variety of other things.

Nate is a junior down at Ohio University and one of the leaders in The Schey Sales Centre. He's a self-taught video guru who has built a student-run production company called CreMedia with a few of the other talented students down in Athens.

These guys are producing some pretty savvy videos for businesses and the Centre using a Canon D60 DSLR camera. This camera has created a ton of buzz in the media industry for its amazing high-definition video quality, depth of field and ease of use.

Design Challenge

While it's not as cool as a D60, I shoot a lot of video using my Canon T2i Rebel, which is, admittedly, a step down from Nate's camera. One of the challenges I've had lies in the ability to actually maneuver the camera in a way that allows me to compose a nice shot. Even with auto-stabilization, it's tricky with a camera that's body is designed to take stills.

Nate has been having the same challenges. So what did he do?

He innovated.

Here's some of Nate's work at the Schey Sales Centre using the D60. This video is part of a series called The Game.

What do you think?

Addendum

Nate wanted me to make sure that credit was also given to one of his partners in video crime, Max Rodriguez. Max is a junior and a video production major at Ohio University. He founded creMedia last fall and his vision has taken the company to where we it is today. Pay attention folks. creMedia is on the rise...
